Cast resin. Cast resin takes a consistent matte finish; very small surface marks from the mould seam are normal and usually invisible at arm's length.

The details
The whole piece depends on the negative space between the two bodies. From one angle it is clearly a couple; from another it collapses into one abstract mass. That shift is what makes it worth walking past, and it is why the matte finish matters — gloss would flatten the shadow that creates it.
Styling it
