The details
The legs lift the body clear of the surface, which is what turns a pot into a character — without them it would just be a jar with a face on it. They are also the hard part to mould, because a raised body needs the weight distributed or the piece rocks. Flat single-colour glaze with no gloss to it.
Styling it
Best in a group with the smiling one rather than alone. Two characters on a shelf is a scene; one is an ornament.
