The details

The finish is where the work is: cast resin is smooth out of the mould, so the grain has to be built onto it afterwards, and it is that slight roughness that stops the piece reading as plastic. Small enough to sit on a stack of books rather than needing a shelf of its own.

Styling it

Scale is the point of this one. It works on a bedside table or against a row of book spines, where a larger figure would take over.
