The details

The dome is deep rather than shallow, which is what keeps the light on the surface instead of in your eyes when you are lying down — the difference between a lamp you can read by in bed and one you switch off. Warm white only, dimmable by touch, and the base is weighted so a cable tug does not topple it.

Styling it

It is a bedside object and it looks like one. Put it where you actually reach in the dark rather than where it composes best; the touch base needs to be findable without looking.
