The details
This shape exists because restaurants needed light on a table with no socket under it, and it had to survive being carried and wiped down every night. That is why the body is turned aluminium rather than cast, and why the shade is acrylic rather than glass. The proportions are the useful part at home: tall enough to clear a place setting, narrow enough to leave the table usable.
Styling it
