Cast resin. Cast resin takes a consistent matte finish; very small surface marks from the mould seam are normal and usually invisible at arm's length.

The details
Character desk objects usually sacrifice function for the gag. This one does not: the pot is a real pot with a usable opening, and the figure is on the outside of it. That means it works as storage first and reads as fun second, which is the right order.
