The details

Silicone on the outside and cotton inside is the right way round — the silicone grips a wet or oily handle where cloth slips, and the cotton lining does the insulating, which silicone alone is poor at. The textured surface is moulded as a raised grid, so it grips in both directions rather than only across.

Styling it

The pair for anyone who actually lifts cast iron. Less handsome than the quilted ones and considerably more useful.
