The details
Acacia is dense and closed-grained, which is why it is used for boards and trivets rather than a softer wood — it takes the heat of a casserole without scorching black where the pan sits. The feet matter more than they look: they hold an air gap under the wood, and that gap is what keeps the heat off the table rather than the timber itself.
Styling it
Big enough for a real casserole rather than a small pan, which is the usual disappointment with a decorative trivet. Leave it under a bowl of fruit when nothing is cooking.
