The details
The ribs are thrown into the wall while the clay is turning, so they run true vertically and vary slightly in depth. The glaze does the rest: it pulls thin over each ridge and gathers between them, which is why the colour reads as stripes without any stripe being painted on.
Styling it
Ribbing catches raking light, so these look best on a surface near a window. A row of the same shape in different glazes reads as a collection rather than a set.
