The details

Unglazed rather than glazed, so the clay itself is the surface — matte, very slightly porous, and warm to the touch in a way a glazed pot is not. Porous clay seasons: brew the same tea in it for long enough and the pot starts contributing to the cup. That is why unglazed pots are traditionally kept for one kind of tea.
