The details
The usual complaint about backflow burners is that they only work in dead air. The shield here solves most of that: it blocks the low-level draught that normally breaks the fall, so the effect holds in an ordinary room rather than a sealed one. Still not one for an open window.
Styling it
The one to pick if your shelf is anywhere near a door or a walkway. Backflow cones only; clear the ash from behind the shield regularly or it chokes.
