The details

The glaze is reactive and fired hot, which is why the bronze breaks to darker patches where it pooled and paler where it ran thin — the pattern is the kiln's, and no two pots come out matching. The overhead handle is the traditional arrangement for a pot this size: it keeps your hand well clear of the body, which matters because stoneware holds heat.
