The details
Backflow cones have a hole through the middle; the smoke is cooled as it passes down through it and, being heavier than the surrounding air, it falls instead of rising. That only works on a piece with an unbroken downward path, which is why this one is a plain shallow channel rather than a moulded mountain — fewer obstructions, better fall.
Styling it
Most backflow burners are ornamental waterfalls. This is the one for someone who wants the effect without the diorama.
