The details
A metal rim on stone does something structural as well as decorative: it protects the edge, which is where marble chips first. Visually it gives the slab a defined boundary, so it reads as a designed object rather than an offcut. The plating is thin — dry dusting only.
Styling it
A dressing table or a bar cart. The gold picks up warm metals elsewhere in a room, so it works best where there is already brass or amber glass.
